Chapter Beginnings
In 1945, Kentucky alumnae — all from chapters in other states — enthusiastically worked to establish a chapter at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, 25 miles from Bettie Tipton Lindsey’s birthplace. Their efforts resulted in the chartering of the Gamma Iota Chapter.

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
