Chapter Beginnings
Delta Nu colony was installed at the University of Arkansas on October 29, 1966, the first Theta chapter to be established in the state of Arkansas. Twenty-one collegians and six alumnae were initiated by Grand President Virginia “Jinny” Speidel Edwards and Council Member-at-Large Janice Richardson Schmuck. Alumnae from Arkansas and Oklahoma who had been eager to establish Kappa Alpha Theta at this 100-year-old university attended. Delta Nu Chapter left the campus in 1989.

From the very beginning, Theta alumnae have distinguished themselves in their careers and their volunteer endeavors. In fact, some are so well-known that they’re household names, and many have the distinction of being the first women in their professional fields.
