This spring, the Guiding Stars Mentoring Program is happening on ThetaConnect! As part of the program, students and alumnae will meet and network with alumnae who are already established in their fields and have indicated on their profiles that they are willing to help or mentor. Not only is this program a great way to make Theta connections, but it is also an opportunity to learn from Thetas who are passionate about their fields and want to mentor younger members.

The purpose of the Guiding Stars Mentoring Program is to empower younger Thetas by providing them with the guidance, support, and resources they need to achieve more in their desired professional fields. Through meaningful mentorship and the power of sisterhood, every Theta has the potential to shine brightly, and ThetaConnect’s mentoring programs can help them navigate their journey to success.

Unlike other mentoring programs held on ThetaConnect, the Guiding Stars Mentoring Program is open to anyone from any field! Not only will participants be paired with a Theta mentor, but they will also have the opportunity to join an exclusive group filled with other Thetas who are open to networking, chatting, and collaborating.

The Guiding Stars Mentoring Program is open for signups now through Friday, Jan. 31. The program will run from Feb. 10 to May 16. After the signup period ends, ThetaConnect will automatically match participants based on their profile data. The entire program will take place on ThetaConnect. Throughout the duration of the program, mentors and mentees will be expected to complete program milestones:

  • Meet & Greet
  • Résumé Review
  • Interview Prep
  • Professional Tips
  • Your Choice! (Whatever the pairing would like to discuss.)
  • Program Survey

Each week, mentors and mentees will receive messages from the group’s admin containing tips, to-dos, or things to consider when meeting with your pairing. All Thetas who participate in the program, complete each weekly milestone, and finish the Program Survey will receive an online certificate of completion to share on social media, particularly LinkedIn.

Collegians and alumnae alike are encouraged to sign up for the program! To register, visit ThetaConnect and go to the Guiding Stars Mentoring Program Registration event on the Event Board. If you are not already a member of ThetaConnect, you will need to join. Update your ThetaConnect profile so it has the most current information about you and your career goals to make a good pairing. In your registration, you can choose whether having a mentor or mentee in your field is a priority for you. (Please note that there’s no guarantee a pairing will take place, and a successful pairing is dependent on the number of potential mentees and mentors who register. If you are not paired, you will be notified the first week of February.)

Remember that ThetaConnect offers mentoring opportunities outside of programming as well. You can always find your own mentor at any time by going to the Mentoring area and choosing Find a Mentor. You can search for potential Theta mentors by job function, company, or industry. You can also chat with other Thetas in your career by visiting the Groups area and choosing Career. If your career not have a Group in ThetaConnect, you can create a new group and become a Group admin!
