In late September, Gamma Chapter at Butler University held a successful philanthropy week on campus. Called Y2KAO, the event raised $26,000 to benefit Theta Foundation and Kids’ Voice of Indiana, the local court-appointed special advocate (CASA) program in Marion County, IN.

Here are some highlights of the week:

  • Chapter members crowdfunded $8,000 in just one hour by mobilizing Butler’s Greek life during Power Hour, demonstrating the power of community and creating buzz through word-of-mouth marketing.
  • Multiple innovative events took place like "Thrift with Theta.” Gamma Chapter members transformed their facility into a Plato’s Closet-style thrift shop.
  • Gamma Chapter secured corporate sponsorships (AES Foundation, CLIF Bar, Pronto Tacos) and many private donations.

Gamma Chapter is one of several Theta chapters that have a strong connection with their local CASA, but support both CASA and Theta Foundation through the Theta for Good program.
