Representing Theta during the Fraternal Governmental Relations Coalition (FGRC) Virtual Hill Visit this year was the perfect way to end my time as a Theta collegian and transition to alumna. Although the visit was virtual, we were still able to easily discuss important issues affecting the sorority and fraternity experience with various senators from all over the country.
The FGRC wanted us to share our sorority and fraternity involvement with members of Congress and explain how legislation on freedom of association and anti-hazing initiatives could improve that experience for future collegians. The visits felt extra special for me because I had the opportunity to talk with Kansas Senate staffers representing my home state, along with my fellow Theta sister, Cindy Stellhorn, Beta/Indiana. I felt as though we were successful in getting our message across while relating on our shared Theta background.
The Virtual Hill Visit allowed me to feel like I was able to give back to Kappa Alpha Theta after the amazing four undergraduate years it gave me. It also gave me the understanding that Theta will continue to give to me throughout my life as I lean into my sorority after graduation, connecting with sisters everywhere I go.
I hope to continue to represent Theta and help in any way I can because Kappa Alpha Theta is the place where I found my people.
