During the month of April, Theta is recognizing volunteers to commemorate the National Panhellenic Conference’s (NPC’s) Advisor Appreciation Month and Theta’s Volunteer Appreciation Week, both celebrated during National Volunteer Week.
As the Theta staff member who supports our volunteers, I look forward to this celebration because, while we hope our gratitude for the selfless contributions our volunteers make is felt all year round, this month allows us the distinct opportunity to reflect upon the profound significance they hold for all of us at Kappa Alpha Theta.
As I reflect on our volunteers, I can’t help but think back to the beginning of Kappa Alpha Theta, when the organization was established by volunteers and was solely run by volunteers. It holds true that, even now, Kappa Alpha Theta simply could not exist without its volunteers.
One reason I have so much appreciation for our volunteers is the journey they took to become volunteers. Our volunteers were once collegians, and from there, they stepped into the world, looked for jobs, continued their education, started families, became involved in their own communities, and so on. From there, they still had a desire to contribute to Theta, now in time and talent. Theta volunteers contribute their unique talents, knowledge, and skills that not only help grow our membership but better the member experience. Our volunteers are proof that Theta is more than four years in college; it’s a membership that lasts a lifetime.
To all of Theta’s volunteers, thank you for the time, love, and energy you give to this organization. The contributions you make are life-changing, and the impact you make does not go unnoticed.
If you are a Theta alumna who would like to make the most of your Theta experience, I highly recommend learning more about how you can become more involved with Theta after college. If you’d like to learn more about volunteering for Theta, or if you’re ready to submit a Volunteer Interest Indicator, please visit the Theta website or email volunteerengagement@kappaalphatheta.org.
