In 2012, Grand Council appointed a committee of women and tasked them with creating a plan for Kappa Alpha Theta’s sesquicentennial celebration. Now, with 2020 around the corner, those plans are being put into action. As one result, we are publishing a book!
150 Years of Kappa Alpha Theta takes a comprehensive look at our rich history through archival images and artifacts. Using a decade-by-decade structure, the 96-page hardcover book includes badge and jewelry photographs, historical vignettes, chapter establishments, quotes, and much, much more.
We’ve grown a lot in 150 years: from an organization created by four leading women to a membership of more than 250,000 women linked through the bonds of sisterhood. That growth did not happen overnight. It took every bit of the last 150 years to cultivate Kappa Alpha Theta into what she is today. From page 1 to page 96, the book shows the growth and spirit of Kappa Alpha Theta from 1870-2020.
150 Years of Kappa Alpha Theta also aims to reflect the experiences of every Theta. A mix of artifacts and images represent every college chapter, all aspects of alumnae engagement, and the most important developments of each decade. Alumnae groups, college chapters, and individual members have all contributed to the history of Theta … and to this book.
