In fall 2022, a new college chapter giving program, aptly named Theta for Good, was established. One of Kappa Alpha Theta’s three aims is to exercise the widest influence for good, which includes cultivating philanthropists who seek to create real, positive change in their communities. Theta for Good provides college chapters with the opportunity to pursue their philanthropic priorities and exercise the widest influence for good by supporting local nonprofits and Theta Foundation.
Theta for Good was created to further the impact that college chapters and members are already making, and it streamlines the fundraising process for college chapter officers. When participating in the program, there is nothing that a chapter needs to do differently when it comes to planning or hosting an event. After the event, chapters designate at least 25% of their proceeds to Theta Foundation, and the remaining funds are directed to one of the following:
- The National CASA/GAL Association;
- A local CASA/GAL chapter; or
- Organizations that help children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect or otherwise support their health and welfare.
Theta Foundation is one of the philanthropic priorities of Kappa Alpha Theta (along with National CASA/GAL), and many chapters have long contributed to Theta Foundation but may have held separate events for each nonprofit. Now, they can support both at the same time!
As of today, nearly 100% of our college chapters have participated in the program!
“Being able to see the direct impact of our philanthropic work for both [our local CASA chapter and Theta Foundation] has opened members’ eyes to see how we hold these causes near and dear to our hearts in Kappa Alpha Theta, and how we have the power to make a greater impact in our community, not just on campus. It has allowed us to do more with both organizations and has become something so much bigger. The program is so easy to participate in and transition into and has made fundraisers more successful, widening our impact. I know our chapter is looking forward to continuing to participate in the Theta for Good program.” – Members from Gamma Chapter at Butler University
During the 2022-2023 academic year, chapters participating in the Theta for Good program contributed over half a million dollars to meaningful causes: $517,000! And contributions to Theta Foundation increased by over 100% in just one year!
Thank you to our college chapters participating in Theta for Good. It is because of you that Theta Foundation can continue to fund programs through the Theta Forever Fund.
