Theta Foundation staff is hard at work preparing for the official launch of the 2024 Scholarship Application! Changes to the application occur each year based on feedback from applicants and evaluators alike. The goal is to make the experience as seamless as possible for everyone involved! This year, removing barriers and streamlining the application form were top of mind.
Here’s an inside look at some of the biggest changes you will notice in this year’s application:
- The volume of the application has been cut in half. One of the biggest reasons applicants start but don’t finish their applications is simply due to the length of the form.
- One of the required recommendation forms has been eliminated. Historically, two recommendations have been required alongside the application: one from a Theta member and one from an academic or professional connection. This year, only one recommendation is required from any reference, Theta or not.
- Non-Theta activity entries have been consolidated. In the past, work experience was separated from other non-Theta activities. Now, applicants can report up to six non-Theta activities, spanning all categories to best represent how they spend their time outside of Kappa Alpha Theta.
- There is only one personal statement-style essay. Believe it or not, there was a time when the application required three separate personal statement responses! Although there are opportunities for shorter narrative entries throughout, applicants now only must respond to one open-ended essay prompt.
If you have ever opened the application and thought it was too cumbersome or too intimidating to complete, please check out the 2024 Scholarship Application, launching on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024. Keep an eye on this web page for more information!
