August 2018 Archives News

Thetas at Glacier National Park for the 1936 Grand Convention.

August might be that last opportunity for a summer vacation getaway or to get ready to head back to campus. As for me, I will be finalizing a few projects around the archives.

I am pleased to announce the new Archives Catalog, a tool for members to search what is held in the Theta archives (login required). I encourage you to search for your chapter or look at some of the artifacts in the collection. I will be continuing to update this resource, so check back often.

I have also updated the Our College Chapters video to reflect the most recent chapter installations. It’s a nice short video that features the earliest image we have for all 185 college chapters of Theta, both active and disestablished. (If you have access to an earlier group image than what is shown in the video, please contact me at archives@kappaalphatheta.org.)

At Grand Convention 2018, I was able to chat with many of the attendees and show off the chapter history pages. Please continue to submit images of your chapter! At the Convention archives booth, I held a drawing for two “Visit from the Archives,” one for a college chapter and one for an alumnae chapter. Over the next school year, I will be visiting Theta Kappa/Louisville and Hartford Alumnae Chapter. I look forward to sharing Theta’s history with sister from both these groups.

Safe travels, whether you are going on vacation or heading back to campus. I am going to keep traveling back in Theta’s history.
